Vietjet Qazaqstan is the newest addition to Asia’s low-cost airline market, following a strategic partnership between Vietjet and Qazaq Air. The announcement was made during the Kazakhstan–Vietnam Business Roundtable, held in the presence of Vietnamese General Secretary To Lam as part of his state visit to Kazakhstan.
The launch of Vietjet Qazaqstan marks a major step in regional aviation, aiming to connect Kazakhstan with Vietnam, Southeast Asia, and broader international routes. The new joint venture will operate as a budget airline, leveraging Qazaq Air’s existing operational foundation and Vietjet’s expertise in low-cost air travel.
As part of the partnership, Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance granted a Foreign Investment Registration Certificate to Aviation Holdings, a Vietjet subsidiary. This certificate allows Vietjet to acquire a strategic equity stake in Qazaq Air, signaling a long-term commitment to the Kazakh aviation market.
Vietjet Qazaqstan is expected to operate a modern fleet of at least 20 Boeing 737 aircraft. The airline plans to implement digital management systems, advanced operational procedures, and new-age customer service models. The goal is to offer efficient and affordable connectivity while supporting local economic development through tourism, trade, and job creation.
In a related agreement, Vietjet Qazaqstan signed a Customer Services General Terms Agreement with Boeing. This will support the airline’s Boeing 737 fleet with a full suite of services, including software, parts, technical support, and training programs for pilots and engineers. Boeing will also assist with aircraft upgrades and modifications to ensure safety and operational excellence.
Vietjet Qazaqstan will serve as a key bridge between Central and Southeast Asia. It is expected to expand quickly across both domestic and international routes, offering new options for transit passengers and promoting cross-border cooperation in logistics and travel.
The move supports Vietjet’s broader international expansion strategy and enhances Vietnam-Kazakhstan relations, particularly in aviation, trade, and cultural exchange. With growing demand for affordable regional air travel, the timing of this launch aligns with shifting passenger expectations and market opportunities.
