Two Airlines Suspend Flights to Russia Following Embraer Crash in Kazakhstan

In the aftermath of the Kazakhstan Embraer crash, two airlines temporarily suspended flights to Russia, citing safety concerns.

Earlier today, Kazakh airline Qazaq Air declared the suspension of its Astana–Yekaterinburg route starting tomorrow and lasting until January 27, 2025. According to a press release, the decision was made to ensure the safety of passengers and crew, based on ongoing risk assessments of flights to Russia.

Flights to other Russian cities, including Omsk and Novosibirsk, remain operational for now. Passengers affected by the cancellations will be offered refunds or alternative travel options.

Meanwhile, yesterday evening, Israeli airline El Al announced it was halting flights from Tel Aviv to Moscow for one week. The airline stated that it would reassess the situation after this period to determine whether operations could resume safely.

These developments come amid heightened concerns about aviation safety following the Embraer incident. Airlines are prioritizing thorough evaluations before continuing routes.
