Kazakhstan and EU Aviation Authorities Expand Air Connectivity

Kazakhstan’s Civil Aviation Committee (CAC) has announced an expansion of air connections between Kazakhstan and the European Union (EU). In the medium term, Kazakhstan plans to launch flights to several EU cities, including Budapest, Riga, Vienna, and Munich, according to a statement released by the CAC on Tuesday.

The announcement follows a meeting of the Kazakhstan-EU Cooperation Council in Luxembourg, where the parties initialed the text of a new air transport agreement between the Kazakh government and the EU. This agreement, which has now passed its final preparatory stage before signing, will serve as a legal framework for opening direct flights between Kazakhstan and all EU member states.

“The agreement will provide a legal foundation for the establishment of direct flights between Kazakhstan and European Union countries, further enhancing air connectivity and cooperation in aviation,” the CAC said.

Currently, Kazakhstan has direct flights to five EU countries: Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, and the Czech Republic. These routes are serviced by both Kazakh and European airlines, with a total of 34 flights per week. Additionally, Greece is added to this list during the summer season.

The expanded routes and enhanced agreements are expected to strengthen cooperation and further develop air travel between Kazakhstan and the EU.
