Accor to Open ibis Hotel in Semey, Kazakhstan

Accor has announced the signing of an agreement with FC Elimai to develop a new ibis hotel in Semey, the capital of the Abay region and one of the oldest cities in Kazakhstan. Scheduled to open in 2027, the 100-room hotel will offer a contemporary, cosy, and reliable hospitality experience, embodying the ibis brand ethos.

A Modern Design with Vibrant Amenities

The ibis Semey will feature the brand’s innovative Agora concept, blending modern design with comfortable functionality. Highlights include:

  • Vibrant social spaces for guests to connect and unwind.
  • A welcoming restaurant and bar offering diverse culinary options.
  • A fully-equipped fitness centre catering to health-conscious travellers.
  • Adaptable meeting facilities for business and community events.

Strategically located along the Irtysh River and with convenient access to Semey International Airport, the hotel aims to become a dynamic hub for both travellers and locals.

Expanding Accor’s Presence in Kazakhstan

The signing of ibis Semey is a testament to Accor’s rapid expansion in Kazakhstan, where the group currently operates 13 properties across several brands. Semey, a key cultural and educational centre in the country, is an ideal addition to ibis’ mission of democratising travel by providing high-quality yet affordable accommodation.

Alexis Delaroff, COO of Accor New East Europe, said: “Kazakhstan offers a great mixture of culture, history, and natural landscapes, which is attracting more travellers domestically and internationally. Semey is an important cultural and educational hub in Kazakhstan, and it is the perfect addition to further expand our presence in the country with another world-recognised brand.”
