New Terminal of Baikal International Airport in Ulan-Ude Set to Open in November 2024

The new terminal of Baikal International Airport, located in the capital of the Republic of Buryatia, Ulan-Ude, is scheduled to open in November 2024. According to the press service of Yury Trutnev, the Russian Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, the terminal will increase the airport’s passenger capacity to 2 million people per year, expanding options for both domestic and international flights.

The two-story terminal will feature telescopic boarding bridges, allowing passengers to board flights directly without stepping outside, replacing the current bus boarding system. The main flow of Russian tourists will depart from this modernized terminal.

Construction of the new building, designed in a national style, began in January 2023. Covering over 6,500 square meters, the terminal is designed to handle up to 400 passengers per hour. More than 3 billion rubles have been allocated to the project. The construction is managed by Spectrum-Holding LLC, while the airport is operated by Novaport.
