The Mandarin Oriental Qianmen, Beijing, an exquisite new property located in the heart of a traditional hutong neighborhood, officially opened today. This boutique hotel, with just 42 beautifully appointed courtyard houses, represents the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s second hotel in the Chinese capital, offering a unique blend of luxury and authentic local culture.
The grand opening ceremony was attended by dignitaries from the owning company, Beijing Tianjie Group Co., Ltd., along with key representatives from the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, including Amanda Hyndman, Chief People & Culture Officer; Alex Schellenberger, Senior Vice President of Brand; Emil Leung, Area Vice President of Operations; and Andy Guan, General Manager of Mandarin Oriental Qianmen. The event was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, symbolizing the official inauguration of the hotel.
A highlight of the event was the unveiling of the Mandarin Oriental Qianmen’s signature fan, designed by renowned Chinese artist Xu Bing. The fan features Xu’s distinctive “Square Character Calligraphy,” which arranges alphabets into forms resembling Chinese characters. The phrase “Unveil Beijing’s Soul” is inscribed on the fan in Chinese ink, encapsulating the spirit of the hotel.
Mr. Andy Guan expressed his excitement at the opening, stating, “We are truly honored to open the doors of our unique hutong sanctuary, offering guests an unparalleled hospitality experience in the Chinese capital.”
Located within the cultural heart of Beijing’s Central Axis, the hotel offers prime access to some of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Guests can indulge in immersive dining experiences at several venues, including Yan Garden, where Michelin-starred Chef Fei and his team present exquisite Cantonese cuisine. TIAO, a contemporary cocktail bar, serves innovative drinks and upscale Beijing-inspired bar fare, while VICINI offers authentic, relaxed regional Italian dishes. For those seeking a more serene experience, Maple Lounge provides an intimate setting for enjoying the finest teas in a tranquil courtyard.
The hotel also boasts unique event spaces, perfect for hosting unforgettable weddings, meetings, and cocktail receptions. Mandarin Palace and Zhengyang Mansion provide a stunning backdrop for any occasion. Additionally, The Spa at Mandarin Oriental offers a transformative experience with private treatment suites, a Tea House, a healing space, and a fitness center, ensuring guests leave feeling rejuvenated.
