American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines have each extended the suspension of their flights to and from Tel Aviv, Israel, as tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate, the airlines confirmed on Wednesday.
These suspensions were initially put in place last year, following the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel, and have been extended multiple times since. American Airlines, unlike Delta and United, had not resumed flights since the initial suspension. The latest extension from American Airlines now pushes the suspension through March 29, 2025. Flights had previously been scheduled to resume in late October 2024.
In a statement, American Airlines explained, “To provide additional flexibility, we will extend our travel alert allowing customers whose travel plans are impacted by this adjustment to rebook without a fee or cancel and receive a refund.” The airline also noted that it would continue working closely with partner airlines to assist customers traveling between Israel and European cities with service to the U.S.
Delta Air Lines has extended its current suspension of flights to September 30, 2024, from the previous date of August 31, 2024. Passengers holding tickets are allowed to rebook their travel by September 30, 2024, with rebooked travel needing to commence no later than December 15, 2024.
United Airlines has also extended its suspension, although specific dates were not mentioned in the airline’s latest update.
