This impressive number marks a 13.7% increase compared to June 2023, solidifying it as the best performing June in the airport’s history. The previous record was set in 2023 with 658,972 passengers.
Airlines like Wizz Air, Ryanair, LOT Polish Airlines, and Air Dolomiti/Lufthansa played a key role in this success. Scheduled flights on these carriers saw a 5.9% rise in passenger numbers, reaching 285,222 for June 2024. Popular destinations included Dortmund, London (both Luton and Stansted), Catania, and Milan-Bergamo.
Charter flights, typically managed by travel agencies, also experienced significant growth. With a jump of 18.9% compared to June 2023, a total of 462,285 passengers were served. Top choices for these flights were sunny vacation spots like Antalya, Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Heraklion, and Djerba.
Looking at the bigger picture, the first half of 2024 has been exceptional for Katowice Airport. Passenger numbers for the period reached 2,615,909, reflecting a remarkable 16.5% increase over the same period in 2023.
