On 16 October 2024, Ryanair held a press conference to mark the 5th anniversary of its base at Katowice Airport. During the event, the Irish airline announced that for the upcoming Winter 2024/2025 season, three Boeing 737-800NG aircraft will be stationed at the airport, marking the first time in the airport’s history that Ryanair’s base in Pyrzowice will have three planes. These aircraft will operate 13 regular routes.
Additionally, Ryanair will continue to operate flights from Katowice to Alicante, Malta, and Rome-Fiumicino during the winter season—routes that were previously available in summer 2024. The airline will also launch a new route to Reggio Calabria on 29 October 2024.
Ryanair has been active at Katowice Airport since November 2007, when it launched its first flight to Dublin. The airline established its base at the airport on 29 October 2019. From its debut in 2007 through mid-October 2024, Ryanair has served 9.22 million passengers on both regular and charter flights at Katowice Airport, with 5.64 million passengers
