The Luxury Collection announces the opening of Sanasaryan Han, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Istanbul, located in the heart of Istanbul’s historic peninsula. Istanbul, celebrated as a captivating blend of East and West, is a vibrant metropolis boasting historical landmarks, iconic monuments, and a rich culinary heritage. Tucked away in the charming Old Town district, Sanasaryan Han offers a luxurious retreat from the bustling city streets.
“We are thrilled to introduce The Luxury Collection to Istanbul, a city known globally for its blend of commerce and culture,” said Philipp Weghmann, Vice President and Global Brand Leader of The Luxury Collection. “Sanasaryan Han, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Istanbul, perfectly embodies the spirit of this historic city and reflects the adventurous nature of global explorers through its dynamic design and curated experiences.”
Originally built in 1895, the neo-classical structure seamlessly integrates the opulence of the Old City with Istanbul’s rich cultural heritage. Designed by Ottoman architect Hovsep Aznavur and commissioned by philanthropist Migirdiç Sanasaryan, the hotel enjoys a prime location steps away from iconic landmarks such as the Spice and Grand Bazaar, the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and Karaköy district.
The property has undergone meticulous restoration, preserving its heritage with a curated collection of artifacts and antiques. The light-filled atrium features a grand chandelier above elegant furnishings and arched mirrors. A serene library, inspired by the property’s history of supporting education, houses books and relics. Handmade ceramic parchment and contemporary art installations adorn modern glass cases throughout the hotel. Monochromatic photographs by Harun Doğan capture the timeless allure of the city.
The 63 guestrooms, including 6 suites, boast sweeping views of Istanbul framed by Ottoman arched windows. Each room is meticulously designed with a palette of black and cream, complemented by marble and turquoise accents. Handcrafted copper accessories pay homage to Turkish traditions, while local postcards add a touch of charm. The spacious bathrooms draw inspiration from ancient Turkish hammams, providing a tranquil retreat. Guests can enjoy traditional Turkish tea served in glass cups from the hotel’s Tea Master.
Sini, the hotel’s restaurant, offers a fine dining experience celebrating Istanbul’s culinary traditions. The Library Bar hosts weekly cultural events accompanied by cocktails and tea tastings presented by the Tea Master. The Book Meeting Room provides a venue for business meetings and social events.
“We are excited to showcase Istanbul’s history, culture, and traditions to global travelers,” said Volkan Ozturkler, Multi-Property General Manager. “We look forward to offering guests a transformative and unforgettable experience.”
To celebrate the opening, Sanasaryan Han offers the Istanbul package for Marriott Bonvoy members, featuring a traditional Turkish breakfast, a photographic walking map, exclusive tea tastings, a private tour of the Spice Bazaar, and additional Marriott Bonvoy points per stay.
