Canopy by Hilton to Open in Izmir and Istanbul

Hilton is strengthening its lifestyle portfolio in Türkiye with the introduction of the Canopy by Hilton brand, launching two new properties this month in Istanbul and Izmir. The openings mark the brand’s debut in the country and reflect Hilton’s broader strategy to meet growing demand for design-led, locally immersive hotel experiences.

The expansion comes as Hilton’s lifestyle category reaches record levels globally, now accounting for around one fifth of the company’s development pipeline, with more than 400 lifestyle hotels currently in operation worldwide.

Canopy by Hilton arrives in Istanbul and Izmir

The first of the two openings, Canopy by Hilton Istanbul Taksim, is located just steps from Taksim Square and Istiklal Avenue, at the heart of the city’s Beyoglu district. The 110-room hotel blends contemporary design with the area’s historic and cultural character. Facilities include an all-day dining restaurant combining Turkish and international flavours, as well as a wine bar set inside a 150-year-old restored cistern, offering a distinctive social setting for both guests and locals.

In western Türkiye, Canopy by Hilton Izmir Bomonti opens within the Mahall Bomonti complex. The 191-room property draws inspiration from the Aegean region, with interiors reflecting natural textures and muted coastal tones. The hotel features locally influenced dining concepts and vibrant communal spaces designed to mirror the creative energy of the Bomonti neighbourhood, a historic industrial area now reimagined as a cultural and social hub.

Growing demand for lifestyle accommodation

Michael Collini, Vice President of Development for Central and Eastern Europe at Hilton, said the expansion reflects strong market demand as the company marks its 70th anniversary in Türkiye. He noted that travellers are increasingly drawn to hotels that combine quality, thoughtful design, and a strong sense of place, while owners are showing growing interest in lifestyle brands.

Hilton’s lifestyle presence in Türkiye has expanded rapidly in recent years. In 2022, the company had just five lifestyle hotels trading or in development in the country. That number has tripled within three years, underlining the pace of growth across both major cities and culturally rich destinations.

Recent and upcoming lifestyle openings

In 2025 alone, Hilton will have opened four lifestyle properties in Türkiye across its Canopy by Hilton, Curio Collection by Hilton, and Tapestry Collection by Hilton brands. Recent highlights include the debut of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton with The Ritus Hotel Istanbul Sultanahmet, and the opening of Altunizade Suites Istanbul under the Curio Collection, marking the brand’s second property in the city.

Looking ahead, Hilton has nine additional lifestyle hotels in development across Türkiye. Five are scheduled to open next year, including the company’s first cave hotel, Elika Cave Suites Cappadocia under the Curio Collection by Hilton. Other upcoming projects include Porto Chiara Istanbul Karakoy and Les Temps Istanbul Karakoy, both part of the Curio Collection, Palazzo Donizetti Istanbul under the Tapestry Collection, and Myrna Izmir Konak, also part of the Tapestry Collection.

Part of a wider European expansion

The new Turkish openings join Hilton’s expanding lifestyle footprint across Europe, which now includes nearly 90 hotels. Recent additions to the regional portfolio include Palacio de Godoy Cáceres, Curio Collection by Hilton in Spain, housed in a restored 16th-century palace, Rosetta Hotel Perugia, Tapestry Collection by Hilton in Italy, and Hotel Preko on Ugljan Island in Croatia.

With its continued focus on lifestyle brands, Hilton is positioning itself to capture evolving traveller preferences across Türkiye and the wider European market, blending global standards with strong local identity.
