Mauritius expects that direct Aeroflot flights from Russia will be launched within a few months, the issue is practically resolved, said the country’s ambassador to Moscow, Heswar Janke.
“Many Russians like to visit Mauritius, and Aeroflot and I are working on launching direct flights… The issue is almost closed, but there are several aspects that we are working on. And as an ambassador, I myself am waiting for direct flights to open. We are working on this since January last year, so now we hope that within a few months there will be direct flights,” the diplomat said.
According to him, not only direct flights with Russia are being worked out, but also an additional route Mauritius-Seychelles-Russia.
“Companies are working on this alternative with Aeroflot. The authorities sent a corresponding request to the Seychelles,” Janke explained.
Mauritius is an island nation in southeast Africa, located in the Indian Ocean south of Madagascar. The republic includes the largest island of the same name, the island of Rodrigues and many small islands. Mauritius is of volcanic origin and is surrounded by a barrier of coral reefs.
