BiciMad in Madrid Will Be Free

Since March 7, Madrid’s BiciMad city electric bikes have become free. The free ride can be used an unlimited number of times a day. The only restriction is that the total travel time should not exceed 30 minutes.

In total, 7.5 thousand new electric bicycles and 611 stations operate in Madrid.

Free rides will be available until May 31st.

Thus, the mayor’s office hopes that local residents will use environmentally friendly transport more often than cars.

In Madrid, the mayor’s office is already compensating citizens up to 50% of the cost of their own electric light vehicle (electric scooter, bicycle, moped, motorcycle with an electric motor), and residents of the small city of Santander decided to pay 350 euros so that they can buy an electric bike.
