While everyone is enjoying the summer, Copenhagen is working to become the European Capital of Christmas in 2021.
The City Hall invites businesses to think about how to help the capital strengthen its reputation as an attractive holiday destination during the Christmas season. All shops, restaurants, hotels and cultural institutions are invited to submit their ideas by September 2021 and receive funding from Copenhagen’s special ‘Christmas budget’ (over EUR 134 million).
Essentially, Copenhagen hopes to become an attractive location where domestic and international tourists can enjoy culture, food, and shopping over the winter holidays.
Meanwhile, the new European Capital Christmas Call of 2021 is open! All cities and towns that are part of the 27 Member States of the European Union, as well as Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, Switzerland and United Kingdom will be able to participate in the Call for the European Capital and City of Christmas 2022.
The deadline for submission of the candidate’s projects to call for the European Capital and City of Christmas 2022, will open for the current edition on 1 April 2021 and end 30 September 2021 of the same year. After this date the deadline will be closed.
