New hotel in Charleston’s Wild Dunes beach resort community offers warm escape for couples, families, groups and wedding parties
Hyatt Hotels Corporation today is pleased to announce the opening of Sweetgrass Inn at Wild Dunes, a newly built signature hotel located on four acres of the coastal resort. Inspired by the sweetgrass that is indigenous to the South Carolina coast, Sweetgrass Inn is nestled among the dunes of Charleston’s barrier island, Isle of Palms. Offering distinct, modern and beachy accommodations with elevated amenities for travelers beckoned by the Lowcountry, Sweetgrass Inn offers an inviting, lively retreat ideal for couples, families and groups. Sweetgrass Inn features 153 guest rooms and suites, a premier spa, two dining outlets, an expansive pool deck and first-class meeting and event spaces, in additionto full access to Wild Dunes Resort’s established, award-winning golf courses, tennis club and white sand beaches.
Developed by longtime Wild Dunes Managing Partner Lowe and partner Dart Interests, Sweetgrass Inn offers spacious accommodations with spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean, Lowcountry marshes, Charleston city skyline and Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge. Guest rooms range from king, double queen and one-bedroom suites. Each guestroom embraces modern, contemporary design elements influenced by a coastal aesthetic, incorporating Charleston’s historic charm.
Spa at Sweetgrass is a stunning 10,000 square-foot sanctuary where guests are invited to retreat, rejoice and reset their mind and body. The Spa at Sweetgrass features 14 treatment rooms and indoor and outdoor relaxation spaces, including a 3,000 square-foot private outdoor spa garden with plunge pools and cabanas. The spa menu features massages, body treatments, facials and other services, all centered around philosophies of nature with a focus on the healing powers of the ocean and the natural elements of the earth.
Sweetgrass Inn features two new culinary experiences for guests to gather and share a meal. The Laughing Gull, a casual bar and restaurant, serves frosty beverages and island-inspired poolside cuisine, like the lump crab salad and margarita popsicle dessert. Inside the hotel’s lobby, The Oystercatcher Restaurant & Bar is a lively gathering place where guests can kick back and enjoy a menu highlighted by local, fresh seafood delivered daily, including oysters on the half shell prepared four ways.
One of the most captivating features is the hotel’s new, expansive pool deck with a zero-entry pool, hot tub and kid’s splash pad. Poolside programming will be offered for children and families. Sweetgrass Inn elevates Wild Dunes Resort as a premier destination for groups and events in Charleston. With the addition of153 guest rooms and 30,000 square feet of event space, Wild Dunes Resort is now able to host groups of up to 650 people. Sweetgrass Inn’s Indigo Room & Rooftop, the Lowcountry’s premier rooftop ballroom and terrace, offers a 3,000 square-foot ballroom and 6,000 square-foot terrace for formal events and weddings. The 8,000 square-foot Osprey Ballroom & Terrace is perfect for multi-function events of up to 800. Adjacent to the Osprey Ballroom, the 570 square-foot Avocet Boardroom provides a more intimate space for meetings or private events.
