Hotels and Casinos Closing in Las Vegas

As the coronavirus pandemic has intensified in the United States over the past week, the virus has led to slowed demand and unprecedented disruptions along the Las Vegas Strip.

In accordance with a statewide order issued today by Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak, Station Casinos LLC will initiate the temporary closing of each of its Las Vegas, Nevada properties for a thirty-day period commencing at midnight on March 17, 2020.

Boyd Gaming Corporation announced that all of the Company’s properties in Nevada.

MGM Resorts International today announced its decision to temporarily suspend operations at its Las Vegas properties until further notice, effective as of Tuesday, March 17. Casino operations will close on Monday, March 16, followed by hotel operations. MGM Resorts will not be taking reservations for arrivals prior to May 1.

Wynn Resorts has decided to temporarily close Wynn Las Vegas and Encore. The closure will be effective Tuesday, March 17 at 6 pm and is expected to be in effect for two weeks, after which time the Company will evaluate the situation. A limited number of employees and management will remain at the resort to secure and maintain the facility.

Caesars Entertainment has suspended all performances through the end of March following coronavirus concerns. In a statement, Caesars said all of their venues company-wide will go dark beginning March 15. Caesars Entertainment hopes to resume its regularly scheduled performances after March 31.

Cirque du Soleil announced on Saturday its shows in Las Vegas would be temporarily suspended starting Sunday, March 15.

Penn Jillette, Opium, Atomic Saloon Show and David Copperfield announced their shows would be going dark for an undermined amount of time. Tape Face at Harrah’s Las Vegas and FRIENDS! The Musical Parody at Paris Las Vegas are in the Caesars Entertainment family, and their shows have been canceled through March 31.

Several employees there have tested positive for COVID-19. One worked at the Luxor Hotel & Casino, another worked at the Wet Republic pool at the MGM Grand.
