Red Wings Airlines to Launch Flights from Yekaterinburg to Sri Lanka in November

At the Expotravel-2023 international tourism exhibition in Yekaterinburg, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Russia, Janita Abevikrema Liyanage, announced that Red Wings Airlines will initiate flights from Yekaterinburg to Sri Lanka starting in November.

“I am delighted that we have finally been able to organize this long-awaited direct flight from Yekaterinburg to Sri Lanka. Starting next month, you will have the opportunity to fly directly from Yekaterinburg to Sri Lanka,” she stated. It was specified that Red Wings will operate these flights.

The ambassador also highlighted that Sri Lanka has found a way to facilitate direct money transfers from Russia to attract Russian tourists without involving intermediary banks. She explained, “Through the embassy, cooperation has been established between the National Investment Industrial Bank in Russia and People’s Bank on the Sri Lankan side, enabling direct money transfers without intermediary banks. In practice, before embarking on a trip, the tourist opens an account with National Investment Industrial Bank in Russia and People’s Bank remotely, online, and deposits a certain amount of money, which is then converted… Upon arrival at the airport, you will be issued a card.”

Additionally, the ambassador specified that flights from Yekaterinburg to Sri Lanka will commence on November 4 and will operate twice a week.
