Record Traffic at Orlando International Airport MCO

Orlando International Airport is the busiest airport in Florida with more than 50.1 million passengers and 6.73 percent passenger growth over 2018, as calculated from a 12-month rolling total number in October. MCO has record holiday traffic plus access and connections to more than 150 domestic and international destinations. Orlando International has in excess of $41B in economic impact on the Central Florida region and MCO has some of the highest ranked bond ratings for an airport in the nation.

“We think 2020 is going to be more of the same,” says Phil Brown, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “There are signs the economy is dampening a little but the thing about Central Florida is the tourism and leisure economy has been pretty resilient.”

Looking forward to 2020 at MCO:

  • Continued construction on the new South Terminal “C” project, phase 1 construction substantially complete in 2021
  • Continued construction of the Virgin Train station and track with service to Miami starting in 2022
