The architectural design is firmly rooted in the Pombaline style. What makes this place even more captivating is that it cradles the historic Arco das Portas do Mar, a historic arch connecting the Alfama district with Alfama’s central square the Campo das Cebolas, and serves as the very ground where relics harkening back to the Roman era have been unveiled.
