In an era where environmental awareness is increasingly crucial, Aeroflot becomes the first Russian airline to offer passengers an active role in preserving the environment.
Now, every Aeroflot customer can offset their carbon footprint from flights by planting their own tree in Russia’s national parks. This green initiative allows travelers to combine air travel with care for nature and the future of our planet. This step not only reduces human impact on the climate but also contributes to the restoration of forests affected by fires.
Participants can calculate the carbon footprint of their flights using the online CO2 emissions calculator provided by Aeroflot. The calculator adheres to the methodology of the International Civil Aviation Organization and the International Air Transport Association, similar to those used by leading global airlines. Passengers can voluntarily compensate for the environmental impact of their travel by purchasing tree-planting certificates.
Owners of personalized tree-planting certificates receive detailed information about the tree’s planting location, its species, and precise GPS coordinates. The certificate also includes calculations of the forest’s carbon absorption capacity, allowing each participant to accurately assess their contribution to cleaning the atmosphere of greenhouse gases. Initiative participants can actively track the growth of their seedlings through regular progress reports.
