LOT Expands Boeing 737 Max Fleet with 13 Aircraft

Polish airline LOT is expanding its Boeing 737 Max fleet to 13 aircraft after the 11th and 12th jets completed their first technical flights in recent weeks, suggesting they should arrive in Poland within days.

The new aircraft also feature refreshed cabins and a new onboard layout with RECARO seats, marking the latest step in the carrier’s fleet renewal programme.

LOT’s latest deliveries come as the airline continues to modernise its short and medium-haul operations with the fuel-efficient narrow-body jet. The Boeing 737 Max family has become a key part of many European carriers’ fleet plans, as airlines seek lower operating costs and updated passenger interiors.

The technical flights are an important milestone before delivery, allowing checks on aircraft systems and performance before they enter commercial service. For LOT, the arrival of the 11th and 12th aircraft means the airline is moving closer to taking full advantage of the 13-jet order already in its fleet pipeline.

The airline’s decision to fit the newer aircraft with RECARO seats also reflects a wider industry trend toward standardised cabin products and improved passenger comfort. Airlines often use fleet renewal not only to boost efficiency but also to update the travel experience across their network.

Boeing 737 Max aircraft have remained central to global airline expansion plans despite ongoing scrutiny of the model in recent years. For LOT, the latest additions strengthen a fleet that serves many of its European routes and helps maintain a consistent product across short-haul operations.

The gradual arrival of the aircraft suggests the carrier is pacing deliveries in line with operational needs. Once in Poland, the jets are expected to undergo final preparations before entering service on scheduled routes.
