Avani Hotels & Resorts has launched Avani Book Club, a new global initiative designed to help travelers connect more deeply with destinations through literature, local storytelling and shared reading experiences.
The program combines curated reading lists, in-hotel book collections, author events, book swaps and destination-inspired activities across selected Avani properties worldwide. The initiative reflects the growing influence of online reading communities and a broader travel trend toward slower, more meaningful experiences that encourage cultural immersion.
Inspired by the popularity of platforms such as BookTok and Bookstagram, Avani Book Club aims to make books a central part of the travel experience, allowing guests to explore a destination through its stories as well as its landmarks.
Thirty Books Inspired By Fifteen Destinations
At the heart of the program is a curated collection of 30 books available across 15 participating Avani hotels and resorts spanning Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australia and the Indian Ocean.
Each title has been selected to reflect the character, history or atmosphere of its destination, ranging from contemporary fiction and literary classics to travel memoirs and wellness-focused reads.
Featured titles include Bangkok Wakes to Rain by Pitchaya Sudbanthad at Avani+ Riverside Bangkok, offering a vivid portrait of Thailand’s capital, and The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton at Avani Museum Quarter Amsterdam, which captures the intrigue of 17th-century Dutch society.
In Venice, guests at Avani Rio Novo Venice can discover You Deserve Good Gelato by Kacie Rose, a bestselling travel memoir celebrating food, self-discovery and Italian culture.
Author Events And Local Literary Experiences
Beyond the reading lists, Avani properties will host a variety of events designed to bring books and communities together.
In Venice, author and travel influencer Kacie Rose is scheduled to participate in a book signing and special Avani Book Club event later this year. Meanwhile, Avani Alonso MartÃnez Madrid will continue hosting local book club gatherings that bring together guests and residents for literary discussions.
At Avani Museum Quarter Amsterdam, the program will include a WorldPride-themed Book Swap & Reading Night developed in partnership with The Swap Club, featuring LGBTQ+ literature, poetry and community conversations.
Destination-Inspired Reading Experiences
Several properties are integrating books into wider hospitality experiences. At Avani Ratchada Bangkok, guests can enjoy Sip the Story, a concept pairing books about Thailand with themed coffees, matcha drinks and cocktails.
Avani Ao Nang Cliff Krabi Resort is introducing a story-inspired afternoon tea experience, allowing guests to enjoy literary-themed menus while overlooking the region’s famous limestone cliffs.
In the Maldives, Avani+ Fares Maldives offers a roaming book buggy delivering reading materials directly to guests by the pool, while wellness-focused titles are available within the resort spa.
Literary Adventures For Younger Travelers
The initiative also includes experiences designed specifically for children. At Avani+ Koh Lanta Krabi Resort, young guests can follow the adventures of Gok and Gek, the resort’s resident hornbill birds, through an illustrated storybook and interactive activity guide.
The educational program combines local wildlife awareness with storytelling, creating a unique way for families to engage with the destination.
By incorporating local culture, nature and creativity into children’s activities, the resort aims to make reading part of the holiday experience for younger travelers.
A Growing Trend In Experiential Travel
The launch of Avani Book Club reflects a broader shift within the travel industry toward experiences that prioritize personal enrichment, cultural engagement and meaningful connections.
As travelers increasingly seek alternatives to fast-paced sightseeing, books are becoming another way to understand destinations, local traditions and community stories.
With literary experiences now available across participating properties worldwide, Avani is positioning reading as a new form of travel companion, encouraging guests to slow down, explore and connect with the places they visit in a deeper and more memorable way.
