Air Serbia Expands Canada Network Through New WestJet Partnership

Air Serbia has strengthened its presence in North America by signing a new Special Prorate Agreement (SPA) with Canadian carrier WestJet, opening access to a wider range of destinations across Canada through Toronto.

The agreement will allow passengers travelling on Air Serbia’s direct flights between Belgrade and Toronto to seamlessly connect to multiple Canadian cities served by WestJet, significantly expanding travel options beyond Ontario.

More Canadian Destinations Via Toronto

Under the new partnership, Air Serbia customers will gain access to a growing number of destinations across Canada through WestJet’s domestic network.

The list includes major cities such as Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver.

The agreement also works in both directions, providing WestJet passengers with easier access to Belgrade and Air Serbia’s wider European, Mediterranean and Balkan network.

Ticket sales under the new arrangement are expected to begin immediately.

North America Remains A Strategic Market

Air Serbia has steadily expanded its long-haul operations in recent years, with Toronto emerging as one of its key North American gateways.

The new cooperation is expected to improve connectivity and simplify travel planning by allowing passengers to book itineraries that combine flights operated by both airlines.

“Cooperation with WestJet is an important step forward in further expansion of our presence on the North American market,” said Air Serbia Chief Executive Officer Jiri Marek.

He added that the partnership provides passengers with a broader choice of destinations across Canada while improving connection opportunities through Toronto.

Growing International Partnerships

The Special Prorate Agreement forms part of Air Serbia’s broader strategy of expanding its global reach through partnerships with international carriers.

By leveraging Toronto as a connection point, the airline can offer travelers access to destinations across Canada without launching additional long-haul services of its own.

The agreement also reflects the increasing importance of transatlantic connectivity between Southeast Europe and Canada, where strong business, tourism and diaspora links continue to support demand.
