IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced a major expansion in Vietnam, signing a strategic partnership to develop four new hotels within the vast Vinhomes Green Paradise Can Gio project near Ho Chi Minh City.
The agreement, struck with Cangio Tourist City Corporation, will see more than 1,000 rooms added across four brands – marking one of the most ambitious hospitality developments currently underway in Southeast Asia.
The move signals growing international confidence in Vietnam’s tourism sector, as the country positions itself as a leading global destination.
Four global brands in one mega development
The project will introduce a diverse portfolio of IHG brands to the coastal site. Plans include:
InterContinental Saigon Can Gio – 400 rooms
Crowne Plaza Saigon Can Gio – 400 rooms
Holiday Inn Express Saigon Can Gio – 130 rooms
Garner Hotel Saigon Can Gio – 130 rooms
The development will bring together luxury, premium and midscale offerings in a single destination – a strategy designed to attract a broad mix of international and domestic travellers.
The InterContinental property is expected to target high-end guests, while Crowne Plaza will cater to business and modern leisure travellers. Meanwhile, Holiday Inn Express and Garner will focus on accessible, high-quality stays – with both brands making their debut in Vietnam.
The first hotels are scheduled to open in 2028, with the remaining properties following in 2030.
A new tourism hub in the making
The hotels will form part of the wider Vinhomes Green Paradise Can Gio – a 2,870-hectare coastal urban project backed by Vingroup and operated in partnership with Vinpearl.
Located near the Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve, the development aims to blend large-scale tourism infrastructure with natural surroundings.
Plans go far beyond hotels. The site will include a 122-hectare theme park under the VinWonders brand, a 5,000-seat theatre, an 800-hectare lagoon, a cruise port, and two international-standard golf courses.
Developers are targeting up to 40 million visitors annually – a figure that would place Can Gio among the most visited destinations in the region.
Connectivity driving growth
Infrastructure is central to the project’s ambition. A proposed high-speed rail link between Ben Thanh and Can Gio is expected to cut travel time from central Ho Chi Minh City to just 13 minutes.
Additional upgrades, including the Can Gio Bridge and new coastal routes, aim to connect the area with nearby पर्यटन hubs such as Vung Tau, further strengthening its appeal to both tourists and investors.
Vietnam remains a key growth market
IHG currently operates 23 hotels in Vietnam, with 20 more in the pipeline. This latest agreement reinforces the company’s long-term commitment to the country and highlights its strategy of expanding across high-growth destinations.
For Vietnam, the partnership represents more than new hotel openings. It reflects a broader shift toward integrated, experience-led tourism – where accommodation, entertainment and infrastructure combine to create destinations capable of competing on a global scale.
As construction timelines move forward, Can Gio is emerging as one of the most closely watched tourism developments in Asia.
