Six & Six Private Islands to Debut in the Maldives with Six-Resort Vision

Emerging as a new player in the global luxury hospitality landscape, Six & Six Private Islands is preparing to make its debut in the Maldives with a collection of individually conceived private island resorts. Co-founded in 2024 by seasoned hotelier Laith Pharaon, the brand will open its first two properties in the South Malé Atoll in 2026, with four further resorts planned over the following six years.

Rather than operating as a uniform portfolio, each Six & Six resort is being developed as a standalone, individually branded retreat. The concept is underpinned by a philosophy of presence, authenticity and meaningful connection, with the aim of re-centring the guest experience around time, space and immersion in place. The brand’s lifestyle-led model intentionally strips away distraction, allowing guests to shape their stay according to how they want to feel, supported by wellness specialists, creative collaborators and culturally rooted experiences.

The first opening, Rah Gili Maldives, is scheduled for February 2026. Located beside a protected dolphin sanctuary, the resort will comprise 74 villas, including 37 overwater accommodations. Its design approach combines bold, contemporary architecture with playful detailing, creating vibrant social spaces balanced by quieter zones intended for retreat and reflection.

Later in 2026, Six & Six will unveil its ultra-luxury flagship, Don Maaga Maldives. The property will introduce the brand’s signature Terra beach villas and Aethr overwater villas, with select residences extending beyond 1,500 square metres. Architecture across the resort is defined by clean lines and restraint, with generous interiors designed to balance scale with a sense of calm.

Across the wider portfolio, selected villas will feature both saltwater and freshwater pools, open courtyards, semi-precious inlays and secluded zones conceived for deep restoration. Don Maaga will also be home to Hirigaa, an invitation-only private island created for full-island takeovers. Both Rah Gili and Don Maaga will be accessible via short speedboat transfers from Velana International Airport.

Cultural identity sits at the core of the brand through its Rayyithun philosophy, a framework anchored in Maldivian heritage that informs design language and programming. This extends from material selection to locally inspired rituals and experiences, intended to foster a deeper connection between guests and their surroundings.

Central to the guest journey is the Edhurun programme, which reinterprets the traditional butler service into a personalised hosting model described as intuitive, respectful and grounded in care. Edhurun hosts are positioned as storytellers and guardians of island knowledge, subtly layering each stay with narrative and ritual rather than overt formality.

Speaking about the brand’s positioning, Pharaon said that Six & Six is focused on offering “the most meaningful luxuries: time, space, and the freedom to just be,” adding that the group is not interested in replicating existing luxury formulas but in reimagining what luxury in the Maldives can feel like.

Alongside guest experience, Six & Six has outlined ambitious ESG commitments. Plans include extensive use of solar power, a zero-waste-to-landfill approach, support for local produce, reef rehabilitation initiatives and community-focused programmes integrated into each resort’s operations.

Complementing the six-resort rollout, the company will also introduce Six & Six Private Residences, with private homes available on each island, further extending the brand’s vision of long-stay, deeply personal island living in the Maldives.
