Burberry’s Daniel Lee to Design Claridge’s Iconic Christmas Tree for 2025

London’s legendary Claridge’s Hotel has unveiled that its 2025 Christmas tree will be designed by Daniel Lee, the chief creative officer of Burberry. Continuing the hotel’s tradition of collaborating with fashion’s biggest names, this year’s design promises a festive celebration of British heritage, craftsmanship, and timeless elegance.

The 16-foot tree, which will be revealed to the public on Tuesday, 25 November, will take pride of place in the hotel’s elegant Mayfair lobby. Lee’s design embraces a traditional aesthetic with a modern Burberry twist — the tree will be decorated with around 600 bows, a Victorian symbol of unity, all crafted from surplus Burberry fabrics.

Among the intricate details are bells and chess-piece ornaments, the latter inspired by Burberry’s Equestrian Knight Design, as well as an opulent gold crown adorning the top. At the tree’s base, guests will find oversized chess pieces, creating a dramatic and playful installation.

Daniel Lee said:

“Claridge’s has always felt like home from the moment you walk through its doors, a true symbol of elegance and British heritage where I’ve enjoyed many special moments over the years. Being invited to design the hotel’s annual Christmas tree is a huge honour. I saw it as an opportunity to celebrate tradition and togetherness – expressing the season through vibrant colours and rich textures. Christmas is my favourite time of the year.”

Thomas Kochs, Managing Director of Claridge’s, added:

“Christmas is always the most magical time of the year at Claridge’s and this festive season we are honoured and delighted to welcome long-standing friend Daniel Lee into our lobby. We can’t wait to see what surprises are in store for the tree and look forward to seeing guests and visitors immerse themselves in the creative world of Burberry.”

This year marks the 15th edition of Claridge’s annual designer tree, a tradition that has become one of London’s most anticipated festive reveals. Previous designers have included Karl Lagerfeld, whose upside-down white tree drew global attention, and Diane von Fürstenberg, whose ‘Tree of Love’ shimmered with over 8,000 hand-painted silver leaves and glass spheres.

Set against the backdrop of the hotel’s 269 guest rooms and renowned restaurants and bars, the Claridge’s Christmas tree continues to blend fashion, art, and festive spirit, confirming its place as a highlight of London’s holiday season.
