Six Senses AMAALA Opens on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Coast

Six Senses has officially opened Six Senses AMAALA on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast, marking the brand’s second property in the Kingdom following the launch of Six Senses Southern Dunes. The new luxury wellness resort combines sustainability, nature, wellness and Saudi hospitality within the ambitious AMAALA destination.

Located along more than 1,600 square miles of protected Red Sea coastline, the resort is surrounded by beaches, mangrove lagoons, coral reefs and dramatic desert mountains, offering guests an immersive escape focused on wellbeing and shared experiences.

Luxury Accommodation Inspired by Saudi Heritage

Six Senses AMAALA features 100 suites and villas alongside 25 branded residences designed to blend into the surrounding landscape. Inspired by traditional Saudi coastal architecture, the accommodations are arranged in a village-style setting that encourages families and groups to explore the destination together.

The resort’s design emphasizes community, local storytelling and nature, creating spaces where guests can experience the Red Sea through marine adventures, desert excursions and evenings beneath exceptionally clear night skies.

Wellness Beyond the Spa

Wellbeing is integrated throughout every aspect of the guest experience, from sleep-focused room design and the brand’s Eat With Six Senses culinary philosophy to its extensive wellness facilities.

The Six Senses Spa AMAALA is designed as a secluded desert oasis featuring lush gardens, waterfalls and lagoon-facing treatment rooms with private terraces. Facilities include an outdoor Watsu pool, sound dome, Longevity Center, Biohacking Recovery Lounge, cryotherapy, PEMF therapy, saunas, vitality pools and salt rooms.

Guests can also participate in daily yoga sessions, fitness classes, wellness retreats and personalised multi-day programmes.

Three Restaurants and a Sophisticated Non-Alcoholic Beverage Programme

The resort offers three signature restaurants alongside several specialty food and beverage concepts centred on health and local ingredients.

Soraya serves Japanese and Latin American-inspired cuisine with panoramic Red Sea views, while Joud offers Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes throughout the day. Beach Shack provides relaxed beachfront dining featuring seafood, homemade pasta and international favourites.

Additional venues include Bunna coffee roastery, Makhbaz artisan bakery and Nafas cooking school, where guests can discover Saudi culinary traditions.

A standout feature is the resort’s extensive non-alcoholic beverage programme, featuring botanical infusions, fermented drinks, probiotic tonics and signature mocktails created to complement the wellness experience.

Sustainability at the Heart of the Resort

Six Senses AMAALA forms part of a destination designed to operate entirely on renewable energy and aims to achieve LEED Platinum certification.

The resort surrounds a protected mangrove lagoon that supports marine biodiversity while helping capture carbon and protect the coastline. Elevated boardwalks allow guests to explore the ecosystem, while younger visitors can participate in the Junior Mangrove Ecologist programme.

Interactive workshops at the Earth Lab introduce sustainability through activities including upcycled crafts, beeswax wrap making and essential oil blending using locally grown herbs.

Marine Adventures and Desert Exploration

Guests have direct access to snorkeling and diving among the Red Sea’s coral reefs, desert adventures and the nearby Corallium Marine Life Institute, which combines marine conservation with visitor experiences. The AMAALA Yacht Club further enhances the destination’s appeal for sailing enthusiasts.

Six Senses AMAALA is located approximately 45 minutes by road from AlWajh International Airport, 20 minutes by seaplane or around two hours from Red Sea International Airport, where concierge services are available for international arrivals.

The opening strengthens Six Senses’ growing presence across the Middle East, joining properties in Saudi Arabia, Oman and Israel, with Six Senses The Palm, Dubai also scheduled to open later this year.
