Six Senses Xala To Open Near Mexico’s New Chalacatepec Airport

Six Senses is preparing to launch a new luxury wellness retreat on Mexico’s Pacific coastline with the development of Six Senses Xala, a low-impact resort designed around sustainability, wellness and nature-focused travel.

Located within a secluded coastal landscape just 10 minutes from the new Chalacatepec International Airport, the resort aims to combine luxury hospitality with environmental restoration and community integration.

The project has been designed around a “developed to be undeveloped” philosophy intended to preserve the natural character of the region while offering high-end accommodation and wellness experiences.

Private Pool Suites And Beachfront Residences

Six Senses Xala will feature 51 guest accommodations, each designed with private swimming pools and direct connections to the surrounding natural environment.

The development will also include 25 branded residences offering four- and five-bedroom layouts positioned to maximise uninterrupted beach views.

The residences are elevated and set back from the shoreline to preserve privacy and maintain the natural coastal landscape.

Focus On Wellness And Outdoor Adventure

The resort is being positioned as a destination for travellers seeking both wellness and outdoor experiences.

Alongside wellness programming and locally inspired dining, guests will have access to nature activities, surfing and family-focused experiences connected to the region’s landscape and culture.

Six Senses says the property will emphasise emotional hospitality and immersive travel experiences rooted in the local environment.

Major Environmental Restoration Underway

A significant environmental restoration programme forms part of the wider Xala development project.

Developers say approximately 590 acres of land are currently being reforested as part of the initiative.

A new coastal protection reef is also being constructed to help protect marine ecosystems while creating more consistent surf conditions along the coastline.

Infrastructure Improvements For Local Communities

The project also includes infrastructure upgrades designed to support surrounding communities and farms.

These improvements include renewable energy systems, upgraded water supply infrastructure and enhanced wastewater management facilities.

Six Senses says the development is being carried out in partnership with local communities to ensure the resort’s long-term environmental and social impact remains positive.

The opening of Six Senses Xala will further expand the luxury hospitality brand’s presence in Mexico as the country continues attracting investment in sustainable and wellness-focused tourism projects.
