Courtyard by Marriott announces the opening of Courtyard by Marriott Okinawa Resort. The 170-room beachfront resort in Nago marks the brand’s debut in Okinawa, deepening Marriott International’s resort footprint in Japan’s southernmost prefecture, famous for its rich Ryukyuan culture, coral reefs and UNESCO-listed Yambaru National Park.
Set along Kise Beach overlooking the pristine waters of Nago Bay in northern Okinawa, the hotel brings Courtyard by Marriott’s warm, modern hospitality to one of Japan’s most beloved island escapes. Famed for its subtropical climate, crystal-clear waters and easy island rhythm, Okinawa draws millions of domestic and international visitors each year. The hotel sits approximately 72 kilometers, or one hour’s drive, from Naha International Airport.
“Okinawa has long captured the imagination of travelers, and we are delighted to bring Courtyard by Marriott to this extraordinary island for the first time,” said Cristiano Rinaldi, Chief Lodging Product & Services Officer – Asia Pacific excluding China, Marriott International. “The brand is perfectly placed to serve both business and leisure travelers drawn to Okinawa’s distinct Ryukyuan culture, its vibrant coast and its unique island way of life.”
Courtyard by Marriott Okinawa Resort offers guests a scenic beachfront retreat with uninterrupted ocean and mountain views. Just steps away is the Busena Marine Park Underwater Observatory, where visitors can descend into an undersea observation tower and enjoy panoramic views of Okinawa’s colorful marine ecosystem and coral reefs. A short drive leads to Kanehide Kise Country Club, home to two championship golf courses set against dramatic coastal and forest scenery, adjacent to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Yambaru National Park.
Designed by renowned Japanese architectural firm Kume Sekkei, the hotel’s interiors reflect the Courtyard by Marriott brand’s modern aesthetic centered on comfort, functionality, and contemporary style. Inspired by the iconic natural beauty of Okinawa’s west coast, the design incorporates the striking contrast between the turquoise waters known as “Nago Blue” and the golden sands of Kise Beach, widely regarded as one of Okinawa’s most beautiful beaches. Floor-to-ceiling windows and thoughtfully curated interiors create a seamless connection to the surrounding landscape, allowing guests to experience the vibrant colors and tranquil atmosphere that define this celebrated coastal destination.
Guest Accommodations: 170 Rooms and Suites with Space to Relax and Work
Guestrooms and suites are thoughtfully appointed with modern amenities, offering both comfort and style. Ocean View Rooms feature private balconies overlooking the sea, while Mountain View Rooms provide serene vistas of the surrounding landscape. Many guestrooms sleep up to four guests, making them a natural fit for families and groups. The suites offer generous living spaces, designed for productivity and relaxation, with wide windows that frame sweeping sunset views across the ocean – the kind of backdrop that makes the end of each day feel like an occasion. Select suites also come with bunk beds, a thoughtful detail for families with younger children or friends travelling together.
Two Dining Venues: From All-Day International Dining to Authentic Okinawan Delights
Guests can savor international dining at Shioka, where authentic Okinawan flavors sit alongside a daily international breakfast buffet and chef-curated lunch and dinner menus. The restaurant offers seating indoors or on the terrace for guests to enjoy the sea breeze in a relaxed, casual setting. The Lounge opens out to a wide ocean panorama and offers a welcoming spot to unwind or socialize, while the bar serves a curated selection of drinks, including Okinawa-inspired cocktails.

The Treehouse Kids’ Club is a bright and imaginative space where children and parents can explore, learn, and play together. The club features a dedicated kids’ library with a selection of picture books, educational toys, and engaging activities designed to inspire young minds. Children can also enjoy a fun-filled ball pool, providing a safe and playful environment for recreation and social interaction.
Event and Wedding Venues: 210 Square Meters of Natural Light-Filled Spaces with 180-degree Ocean Views
Located on the tenth floor, Coral, the hotel’s 210-square-metre event venue, is bathed in natural light and framed by sweeping 180-degree ocean views, creating an inspiring setting for meetings, private celebrations and everything in between. Equipped with premium audiovisual facilities, including a projector and advanced sound system, the venue is designed to accommodate a wide range of occasions. Weddings at the resort are held in the chapel on the second floor, where couples can exchange vows in a serene island setting. Following the ceremony, guests can gather at Coral for bespoke wedding receptions and celebrations, supported by tailored catering options and the dedicated expertise of the hotel’s events team.
