Miraval Opens First International Wellness Resort In Saudi Arabia

Miraval has officially opened its first international resort with the launch of Miraval The Red Sea on Saudi Arabia’s Shura Island as part of the Kingdom’s ambitious Red Sea Project.

The adults-only all-inclusive wellness retreat becomes the fourth Miraval property globally and the first outside the United States.

Miraval Expands Beyond United States

The opening marks a major international milestone for the wellness brand, which currently operates resorts in Arizona, Texas and Massachusetts.

Miraval became part of Hyatt Hotels Corporation after the hospitality group acquired the brand in 2017.

The Saudi Arabian property forms part of the wider Red Sea Project, a large-scale regenerative tourism development led by Red Sea Global and backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.

180-Key Wellness Resort Powered By Renewable Energy

Miraval The Red Sea features 180 guest rooms and has been designed around wellness, mindfulness and holistic experiences.

According to the developer, the resort operates entirely on renewable energy in line with the sustainability commitments of The Red Sea Project.

Largest Spa On Shura Island

The property includes the 3,000-square-metre Life in Balance Spa, currently the largest spa facility on Shura Island.

The spa contains 39 treatment rooms alongside thermal wellness facilities including hydrotherapy pools, vitality pools, salt rooms and sensory showers.

Additional relaxation areas include reflection ponds, lounges and wellness courtyards.

Saudi Traditions Integrated Into Wellness Concept

A key feature of the resort is the Majlis Private Suite, designed around the Saudi cultural tradition of storytelling and shared hospitality.

The suite accommodates groups of up to eight guests and includes personalised treatments, wellness rituals, a hammam and traditional Arabic coffee and date service.

Women-Focused Wellness Experiences Included

The resort also offers women-only wellness classes and spaces as part of its programming.

Miraval wellness director Hanna Kulyba said the concept was adapted specifically for Saudi Arabia’s evolving wellness market and aligned with the country’s Vision 2030 tourism strategy.

Facilities Include Fitness, Adventure And Culinary Wellness

Beyond the spa, the resort features a Serenity Centre for meditation, yoga, breathwork and creative workshops, alongside a Body Mindfulness Centre equipped with Technogym fitness facilities, Pilates studios and HIIT training rooms.

The property also includes water sports facilities for kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkelling and guided Red Sea excursions.

An aerial obstacle course known as the Miraval Challenge Course has additionally been designed to encourage mindfulness, vulnerability and personal growth rather than adrenaline-focused adventure.

The Red Sea Project Continues Expansion

The Red Sea Project is one of Saudi Arabia’s largest tourism developments and spans more than 10,800 square miles of coastline, islands, mountains and desert landscapes.

The development is expected to include 50 resorts once fully completed and aims to position Saudi Arabia as a major global luxury and wellness tourism destination.
