United Airlines Resumes Houston To Caracas Flights After Eight-Year Suspension

United Airlines has announced the return of nonstop daily flights between Houston and Caracas, restoring a key air link between the United States and Venezuela after nearly eight years.

The airline will resume service between George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston and Simón Bolívar International Airport in Caracas from 11 August.

The route marks United’s return to Venezuela after suspending service in June 2017.

Daily Boeing 737 MAX Service Planned

United will operate the route using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

Passengers will have access to seatback screens at every seat, Bluetooth connectivity, entertainment from major streaming services, space for carry-on bags and, in future, Starlink Wi-Fi.

Houston Strengthens Position As Latin America Gateway

United currently offers up to 100 daily flights from Houston to more than 50 destinations across Latin America and the Caribbean.

Travellers can also connect through Houston to more than 180 destinations worldwide.

The airline said the restored Caracas service will strengthen cultural and economic ties across the Americas while reinforcing Houston’s role as a major regional gateway.

Route Expected To Support Business And Family Travel

United said the flight will reopen an important economic gateway, create new business opportunities and make it easier for families to reconnect.

Patrick Quayle, Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances at United Airlines, said the airline welcomes the opportunity to resume service between Houston and Venezuela after nearly a decade.

Houston Terminal Investment Continues

The new route comes as United prepares to open its transformed Terminal B at George Bush Intercontinental Airport later this year.

The $2 billion project will add 22 new mainline gates and the largest United Club in the airline’s system.
