Barbados is set to receive another major tourism boost from Canada this winter with the launch of new nonstop Air Transat flights from Montreal.
The airline will begin operating seasonal service between Montreal and Barbados on 13 December 2026, adding twice-weekly nonstop flights during the peak winter travel season.
The new route will operate every Wednesday and Sunday using Airbus A321LR aircraft configured with 199 seats.
Barbados Expands Canadian Airlift Strategy
The Montreal service marks another important expansion for Barbados in the Canadian market.
The announcement follows the recent launch of new nonstop Air Canada flights from Halifax, further strengthening the island’s connectivity with Canada ahead of the 2026-2027 winter season.
Barbados tourism officials continue to focus on increasing airlift from key Canadian markets as demand for Caribbean winter travel remains strong.
Quebec Remains Key Source Market
Quebec has long been one of Barbados’ strongest-performing Canadian tourism markets, particularly during the winter months when travellers seek warm-weather destinations.
The new Air Transat route is designed to build on that existing demand while offering travellers in Quebec another direct option to reach the island.
The added flights are expected to provide greater flexibility and more consistent access during one of the Caribbean’s busiest tourism periods.
Tourism Officials Target Long-Term Growth
Barbados Minister of Tourism and International Transport Ian Gooding-Edghill said the new service reflects continued demand for the destination within the Quebec market.
He added that expanding air connectivity remains a major priority for Barbados as the island continues targeting long-term tourism growth and stronger international visitor numbers.
The additional Canadian flights further reinforce Barbados’ strategy of expanding air access across North America as Caribbean destinations compete for winter tourism demand.
