Sofitel Montreal Golden Mile Reopens in Parisian Style

Sofitel has ushered in a new era of refined French hospitality in Canada with the grand reopening of the Sofitel Montreal Golden Mile. Following an extensive multi-phase transformation, the hotel blends timeless Parisian elegance with the creative, cosmopolitan spirit of Montreal.

Perfectly positioned on Sherbrooke Street in the heart of the city, Sofitel Montreal Golden Mile stands just steps away from Mount Royal, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, and the boutiques and bistros that define the district. The unveiling coincides with Sofitel’s 60th anniversary, symbolizing both the preservation of its French luxury heritage and a bold step forward in design and experience under the leadership of CEO Maud Bailly.

Led by the Canadian design studio 2pirdesign, the revitalization captures the intimacy and artistry of a modern French home. Throughout the hotel, metallic rose and bronze tones meet sculptural lighting and richly textured details, giving each corridor and suite a sense of curated warmth and refinement.

The culinary transformation is equally striking. The hotel’s signature restaurant, Renoir, now features sun-drenched interiors inspired by French Impressionism. Executive Chef Olivier Perret presents a menu that merges the traditions of French gastronomy with the freshness of Quebec’s seasonal ingredients, complemented by the delicate desserts of Pastry Chef Paul Peyrat. Next door, the newly opened Nini Cocktail Lounge pays tribute to Renoir’s muse, Nini Lopez. With a rose-gold bar and soft, ambient lighting, the space transitions from a tranquil daytime retreat to a lively evening rendezvous.

Each of the hotel’s 256 rooms, including 17 suites, has been redesigned with comfort and artistry in mind. Teal murals, rose and bronze minibars, and marble bathrooms create a balance of sophistication and warmth. The Prestige Corner and Golden Mile suites feature a palette of mint and toasted red, illuminated by generous natural light, while the Presidential Suite combines theatrical design with tactile materials for a deeply sensorial experience.

Every room features Sofitel’s signature MyBed and the brand’s “Art of Sleep” program, which offers guests personalized rituals including soothing teas, curated playlists, and ambient lighting designed for restorative rest. Grounded in research from leading sleep experts, the program transforms rest into an art form, a reflection of Sofitel’s commitment to well-being and quiet luxury.

Sofitel Montreal has also reimagined its meeting and event spaces. The Picasso Ballroom and the Monet, Matisse, Chagall, and Gauguin rooms have been redesigned as modern salons for gatherings large and small. Artistic mosaics by Montreal and Romanian artists celebrate the city’s architecture and creativity, while the West Foyer provides a contemporary setting for private events.

As night falls, guests are invited to witness Sofitel’s Candle Ritual in the lobby, a tradition inspired by 19th-century Paris when thousands of oil lamps earned the city its famed moniker, the City of Lights. The ritual blends Parisian grace with Montreal’s warmth, embodying the spirit of connection and artistry that defines the new Sofitel Montreal Golden Mile.
