Turkish Airlines has revised its pet travel policy, introducing a key restriction that removes the option to transport animals in the business class cabin for all new bookings.
Under the updated rules, passengers wishing to travel with pets will need to place them in economy class cabins or arrange transport in the aircraft’s cargo hold if cabin requirements cannot be met.
While Turkish Airlines is tightening restrictions in premium cabins, some carriers have taken a more flexible approach. For example, Air Italy previously allowed small pets to travel on passenger seats under certain conditions, reflecting a more permissive stance toward in-cabin animal travel.
Business Class Cabin No Longer Available For New Requests
The airline has confirmed that it will no longer approve new requests for pets to travel in business class cabins. However, bookings made before April 21, 2026, will remain valid under the previous rules.
If passengers with existing reservations change their travel dates, the right to bring pets in business class will no longer apply, meaning the updated policy will take effect upon rebooking.
Service animals are exempt from the restriction and can still travel in the cabin under existing guidelines.
Economy Cabin Rules Remain Unchanged
For economy class passengers, the existing requirements continue to apply. Pets are permitted in the cabin provided that the combined weight of the animal and its carrier does not exceed 8 kilograms.
The carrier must also meet strict size limits:
Maximum height: 23 cm
Maximum width: 30 cm
Maximum length: 40 cm
These dimensions are designed to ensure the carrier fits comfortably under the seat.
