Minor Hotels has announced its latest expansion into South America with the signing of Anantara Ushuaia Patagonia Resort, set to open in early 2028 in Ushuaia, Argentina — the southernmost city in the world, where the Andes Mountains meet the icy Beagle Channel.
The new-build waterfront property will form part of Costa Susana, a master-planned development near Tierra del Fuego National Park, and will feature 60 luxurious guest rooms and suites, a spa and wellness centre at sea level, signature dining concepts, and meeting facilities.
True to Anantara’s philosophy of immersive, experience-led travel, the resort will blend Patagonian nature, adventure and culture with a commitment to environmental preservation. The Costa Susana project — Argentina’s first carbon-neutral real estate development — has also been nominated for the World Architecture Festival in the Landscape and Environment category.
“Ushuaia, often called the ‘End of the World,’ is the gateway to Antarctica and a breathtaking destination in its own right,” said Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels and Group CEO of Minor International. “Bringing Anantara to South America is a key priority for the Group, and we are thrilled to introduce our brand in a setting as bold, remote and awe-inspiring as Ushuaia.”
Developed in partnership with Fideicomiso Urbanización Monte Susana, an Argentine group with over 20 years of real estate experience in Tierra del Fuego, the project will emphasize sustainable luxury and local collaboration.
“With our partners’ deep local expertise and our shared vision, we are confident the property will become a benchmark for immersive, sustainable hospitality at the edge of the world,” added Gonzalo Aguilar, CEO of Minor Hotels Europe & Americas.
“Partnering with Minor Hotels to introduce Anantara to our country is incredibly exciting,” said Melitón González del Solar from Fideicomiso Urbanización Monte Susana. “Together, we are creating a benchmark green hotel for the region.”
Located just minutes from Ushuaia International Airport, Anantara Ushuaia Patagonia Resort will offer privileged access to Tierra del Fuego National Park, luxury Antarctic cruises, the iconic End of the World Train, and world-class ski resorts, promising travelers one of the most extraordinary destinations on the planet.
