Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort has appointed Helga Deboeck as its new General Manager, bringing more than 15 years of international luxury hospitality experience across Europe, the Caribbean, the Middle East and Africa.
Deboeck joins the Mozambique resort from Domes of Corfu, Autograph Collection in Greece, where she most recently served as General Manager.
International Luxury Hospitality Experience
Throughout her career, Deboeck has built extensive expertise in luxury hotel operations, brand positioning, revenue optimisation and pre-opening projects. She has led teams across multiple international markets while focusing on delivering exceptional guest experiences and strong commercial performance.
At Casa Cook Samos in Greece, she successfully launched the property as a premium lifestyle destination, contributing to its recognition with the Best Hotel Design award at the 196+ Forum Milan.
She also played a role in developing Marriott International’s Luxury Pre-Opening Countdown Process, which has since been incorporated into the company’s Luxury Academy training programme.
Leadership Across Global Hotel Brands
Before joining Minor Hotels Africa, Deboeck held senior management positions at Sheraton Gambia Hotel Resort & Spa and Sheraton Grand Conakry.
During her time with Marriott International in the United Arab Emirates, she served as Director of New Builds and Transitions, overseeing luxury pre-opening and brand transition projects across the Middle East and Africa for brands including The Ritz-Carlton, W Hotels, St. Regis and The Luxury Collection.
Her experience spans operational leadership, strategic development and the implementation of luxury hospitality standards across internationally recognised hotel brands.

Multilingual Hospitality Leader
A Belgian national, Deboeck is fluent in English, French and Dutch. She holds qualifications in Business Management, Modern Languages and Mathematics, as well as a Six Sigma Green Belt in Operational Innovation.
Alongside her hospitality career, she has also studied photography and visual arts at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and Ghent College, bringing a creative perspective to her approach to luxury hotel management.
