Kimpton to Open First Napa Valley Hotel in 2028, Blending Luxury and Wine Country Charm

Kimpton Hotels is preparing to make its debut in Napa Valley with a new property set to open in 2028, marking a significant expansion for IHG’s luxury and lifestyle brand. Known for blending boutique-style design with relaxed sophistication, Kimpton’s arrival in the heart of California wine country is poised to draw both travelers and locals seeking an elevated yet approachable escape.

The planned hotel will feature 123 guest rooms spread across two four-storey buildings, designed with the brand’s signature emphasis on comfort and community. Guests can expect a central courtyard and garden patio that encourage social connection, as well as wellness-focused amenities such as an outdoor spa and contrast therapy studios. As with all Kimpton properties, the Napa Valley hotel will be pet-friendly, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to creating inclusive, welcoming stays.

Leanne Harwood, senior vice president and managing director for IHG Hotels & Resorts Luxury & Lifestyle Americas, highlighted Napa’s appeal as the next step for the brand’s growth. She described the destination as a perfect fit for Kimpton’s ethos, noting that its combination of cultural heritage and global recognition makes it an ideal location for a property that blends design, hospitality, and local engagement.

The development is being led by Stratus Development Partners, a Newport Beach-based real estate company with experience in creating lifestyle-driven projects. Principal Andrew Wood emphasized that Napa Valley captures the essence of Kimpton’s “laid back luxury” positioning and expressed confidence that the new hotel will become a vibrant hub for guests and the local community alike.

Set along First Street and the Napa River, just steps from Main Street and the popular Oxbow Public Market, the location underscores the project’s ambition to be at the center of Napa’s lifestyle and culture. Whether travelers are coming for vineyard tours, culinary experiences, or simply to unwind in a scenic setting, Kimpton Napa is positioning itself as a destination that blends modern hospitality with the timeless appeal of wine country.

With the opening planned for 2028, Kimpton’s move into Napa Valley not only strengthens its presence in California, where the brand was originally founded, but also reinforces IHG’s commitment to expanding its luxury and lifestyle portfolio in the United States.
