Slovenia to Launch Digital Nomad Visa in November 2025 — A New Opportunity for Remote Workers

Slovenia is set to attract remote workers worldwide with the launch of its new digital nomad visa, expected to go live on November 21, 2025. This initiative aims to boost the country’s appeal as a vibrant destination for foreigners seeking a year-long stay while working remotely.

The visa will be open exclusively to non-EU/EEA citizens who are employed by foreign companies or clients — meaning applicants must work remotely for employers outside Slovenia. This key requirement ensures the program supports true digital nomads who contribute to the local economy without entering the domestic job market.

Visa holders can reside in Slovenia for up to 12 months, with the option to reapply after spending at least six months outside the country. While the permit cannot be renewed consecutively, it does allow digital nomads to maintain a flexible travel lifestyle. Family members can accompany the visa beneficiaries, provided they do not work in Slovenia and the main applicant can demonstrate sufficient financial means to support their household — specific income thresholds will be announced by authorities soon.

Applications can be submitted online or through Slovenian embassies and consulates worldwide.

Slovenia offers an attractive, affordable cost of living compared to many EU countries, with diverse options for every lifestyle. The capital, Ljubljana, is a hub for co-working spaces, vibrant nightlife, and dynamic urban culture—ideal for those who thrive in energetic environments. Meanwhile, cities like Celje, Maribor, Kranj, and Koper provide quieter, family-friendly settings for remote workers seeking peace and community.

This new digital nomad visa is part of Slovenia’s strategy to position itself as a top choice for international talent and foster economic growth through innovation and tourism.
