TUI Group Expands African Hotel Portfolio

TUI Group’s expansion of its hotel portfolio across Africa marks a bold commitment to growing its footprint in the continent’s dynamic hospitality industry. With a diverse lineup of 12 leisure hotel brands, TUI is offering travelers unique ways to explore Africa’s natural beauty, culinary delights, and rich cultural heritage through new and upcoming properties.

Recent openings include the TUI Blue Samaya in Marsa Alam, Egypt—a premium brand hotel featuring 143 rooms and a water park, perfectly positioned in one of Egypt’s fastest-growing tourist destinations. For travelers seeking affordability and entertainment, the TUI Suneo Palm Beach Skanes in Tunisia now welcomes guests with 294 rooms and an expansive garden, offering a comprehensive all-inclusive experience filled with sports and activities.

The company’s commitment extends beyond current openings. Artur Gerber, Managing Director of TUI Hotels & Resorts, revealed at the Future Hospitality Summit Africa that over 20 new hotels are slated to open across Africa in the coming months and years. The existing presence spans North Africa, Cape Verde Islands, and Zanzibar, but TUI’s ambitions are clearly broadening.

One of the highlights is the lifestyle brand TUI Blue’s inaugural hotel in The Gambia, set to open by the end of 2025 along the scenic Kotu Beach. This new 140-room resort aims to bring TUI’s signature blend of comfort and local culture to this vibrant West African destination. Meanwhile, in Côte d’Ivoire, construction has begun on another TUI Blue hotel, expected to open in 2027, showcasing TUI’s intent to tap into emerging markets.

Adding to its upscale portfolio, TUI launched the luxury brand The Mora last year with its first hotel, Mora Zanzibar, in Tanzania. Celebrating its first anniversary, The Mora offers contemporary luxury paired with highly personalized service. “Our guest reviews show that The Mora is resonating strongly with this new audience and delivering an exceptional experience,” says Gerber, underscoring the brand’s success and TUI’s confidence in expanding this segment across Africa.

Currently, TUI Hotels & Resorts operates 97 hotels with over 30,000 rooms in eight African countries, highlighting its significant presence and future potential. By blending local culture with global standards and investing heavily in sustainable tourism, TUI is positioning itself as a key player in Africa’s evolving travel landscape.
