As part of its ongoing international expansion, Air Tanzania will begin service to Johannesburg, South Africa, on November 30, 2024. This new route marks a significant addition to Air Tanzania’s African network, offering travelers four flights per week on Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft. Each plane is configured with 181 seats, including 16 in Business Class and 165 in Economy, providing comfort and flexibility for both business and leisure passengers.
According to Air Tanzania’s website, the inaugural flight will depart from Dar-es-Salaam, the country’s largest city and financial hub, at 11:00 local time. This schedule will add up to 724 seats weekly in each direction, with nearly 3,000 seats available each month on the route.
Airlink is currently the only other airline operating between Johannesburg and Dar-es-Salaam, making Air Tanzania’s entry a welcomed option for travelers between Tanzania and South Africa. The new service further strengthens Air Tanzania’s position as a key player in African aviation, providing more connectivity across the continent.
