In response to ongoing tensions and security concerns following a recent rocket attack on Ben Gurion International Airport, several major international airlines have extended their flight suspensions to Tel Aviv. These suspensions affect both direct and connecting flights, significantly impacting travel plans for many passengers.
Wizz Air, British Airways, Delta Air Lines, Ryanair, and United Airlines are among the carriers that have decided to delay resuming flights to Tel Aviv. While Wizz Air plans to revisit its decision on May 8, British Airways, Delta, and Ryanair have set their review dates for May 7. United Airlines, however, will not resume operations until May 9.
Additionally, Lufthansa has extended its pause in flights to Tel Aviv until May 11. This extension includes all airlines within the Lufthansa Group, including Swiss Air, Austrian Airlines, Air Brussels, and Eurowings. The decision to prolong these flight suspensions reflects the continued uncertainty surrounding the safety of flying into Israel amidst the recent developments.
A number of other international airlines are also closely monitoring the situation, with several announcing updates on their operations in the coming days. Azerbaijan Airlines and LOT Polish Airlines have indicated that they will announce their decisions by May 6, while Aegean Airlines is expected to provide further details on the same date.
Other carriers, including Air Europa, Air France, ITA Airways, Iberia, Transavia Airlines, and Air India, have outlined their revised flight schedules as well, with some pushing their resumption dates into mid-May. Air France plans to resume its operations on May 13, while ITA Airways and Transavia Airlines have indicated that their flights to Tel Aviv will return to service on May 11 and May 13, respectively.
The extended suspensions have raised questions about the ongoing impact of the regional situation on international travel. Travelers who had planned to visit Tel Aviv or transit through Israel are being urged to monitor their airlines’ communication channels for the latest updates on their flight statuses.
