Ritz-Carlton Opens First Safari Camp in Kenya

The Ritz-Carlton brand is taking its luxury offerings to new heights with the upcoming opening of its first safari camp in Kenya, set to open this August. Located in the heart of the renowned Masai Mara National Reserve, the Ritz-Carlton Masai Mara Safari Camp promises a once-in-a-lifetime experience for guests seeking both opulence and adventure in Africa’s wildest terrain.

The new Ritz-Carlton safari camp features 20 lavish tents, each spanning 163 square meters. These expansive accommodations offer panoramic views of the Sand River, savanna plains, and iconic acacia trees. Guests will be able to enjoy their own private terraces, picturesque swimming pools, outdoor showers, and comfortable loungers while being surrounded by nature’s splendor.

For those seeking the ultimate indulgence, the camp will offer an exclusive presidential suite with four bedrooms, a spacious living area, a dining zone, and a mini kitchen. Every guest is assigned a personal butler, called Encholiek (meaning “one who accompanies you” in the Maasai language), ensuring a highly personalized, luxurious experience throughout their stay.

In addition to the serene accommodations, the Ritz-Carlton Masai Mara Safari Camp will feature numerous world-class amenities, including a wellness center offering treatments based on local healing traditions, a spa, a fitness center, and a swimming pool with stunning views of the savanna. A photo studio will also be available for guests eager to capture the unforgettable moments of their safari adventure.

The camp is designed to immerse guests in both the beauty of nature and the local Maasai culture. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the region’s diverse wildlife, with numerous species native to the area, as well as engage with local Maasai guides who will offer insight into the rich history and traditions of the Maasai people.

Ritz-Carlton Masai Mara Safari Camp is also committed to sustainability. The camp utilizes solar energy, collects rainwater, and has several initiatives in place to reduce waste. Additionally, many of the furniture and décor items have been sourced from local artisans, providing vital support to the regional economy while ensuring that the camp’s design is in harmony with its natural surroundings.

This new addition to the Ritz-Carlton portfolio is a clear sign of the growing demand for luxury safari experiences that combine comfort with a deep connection to the African wilderness. It also marks a significant milestone in Marriott International’s expansion of its luxury offerings in Africa, bringing world-class service to one of the most iconic safari destinations in the world.

Opening in August 2025, the Ritz-Carlton Masai Mara Safari Camp is poised to become a premier destination for travelers seeking an extraordinary blend of luxury, adventure, and sustainability in the heart of Kenya’s breathtaking landscape.
