Japan Airlines (JAL) has unveiled a convenient new service for international travelers arriving at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport. The “JAL Same-day Delivery Service” allows passengers to have their baggage delivered directly to their hotels, allowing them to explore the city unencumbered on their first day.
Accessible to All Travelers
The service is available to all passengers arriving at Terminal 3, regardless of their nationality or airline. JAL has emphasized that the service is not restricted to foreign tourists or JAL flight passengers. In fact, no airline ticket or passport is required to use the service, making it accessible even to Japanese residents.
How the Service Works
To use the service, travelers need to visit the JAL ABC Counter, located on the second floor of Terminal 3’s arrival lobby. The process involves:
- Reservation and Payment: To make a reservation and payment, scan a 2D barcode on a poster at the counter.
- Baggage Sticker: Use an issuing machine to receive a baggage sticker, which must be attached to your luggage.
- Counter Check-in: Hand over your baggage to a customer service agent who will guide you through the process.
The service operates from 4:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily. Bags checked in by 4:00 PM will arrive at their destination by 8:00 PM, while those checked in by 6:00 PM will be delivered by 10:00 PM.
Delivery Zones and Pricing
The service covers hotels in 14 key districts of Tokyo, including Shinjuku, Shinagawa, Chiyoda, Chuo, Minato, Koto, Ota, Shibuya, Taito, Toshima, Bunkyo, Sumida, Meguro, and Edogawa. Each item of baggage, measuring up to 160 cm in total dimensions and weighing no more than 20 kg, costs 4,500 yen (approximately $29.50) to deliver. Compared to third-party delivery services, this pricing offers a cost-effective solution for travelers.
