Greater Bay Airlines is expanding its footprint in Mainland China with the addition of a new route to Huangshan in Anhui Province. Beginning on December 4, 2024, the airline will offer a convenient connection between Hong Kong and Huangshan Tunxi International Airport. The new service will operate three times weekly on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, catering to travelers looking to explore one of China’s most iconic natural wonders.
Located in southern Anhui Province in East China, Huangshan—known as the Yellow Mountains—is a sprawling natural reserve covering 1,200 square kilometers. Famous for its dramatic landscapes of uniquely shaped pine trees, granite peaks, cloud formations, hot springs, and snow-capped vistas, Huangshan has long been a draw for tourists, especially for its stunning sunrises and sunsets. Its breathtaking scenery, coupled with its cultural and geological importance, earned Huangshan a place on UNESCO’s World Heritage list in 1990 and recognition as a Global Geopark in 2004.
The new route launch comes amid a tourism boom for Huangshan. According to data from the People’s Government of Huangshan, the region welcomed a record-breaking 4.57 million visitors in 2023. This increase in tourism underscores the growing interest in China’s natural heritage sites, with Huangshan standing out as one of the country’s most popular destinations.
The addition of Greater Bay Airlines’ route to Huangshan is expected to provide both local and international travelers with easier access to the scenic area, further boosting tourism and strengthening connections between Hong Kong and Mainland China.
