Turkish Airlines has moved up the launch of its new Sydney service by a week, with the inaugural Istanbul -Kuala Lumpur -Sydney flight now scheduled for November 28, 2024. The airline will operate the first two flights on November 28 and 30 using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, instead of the initially planned Airbus A350-900XWB.
The outbound flight, TK174, will depart Istanbul at 15:15, arriving in Kuala Lumpur at 06:20 the next day, before continuing to Sydney, where it will land at 18:30 local time. The return flight, TK175, will leave Sydney at 20:40, arriving in Kuala Lumpur at 01:55 the following day and proceeding to Istanbul to arrive at 10:15 local time on November 29 and December 1.
In addition to the new Sydney route, Turkish Airlines already operates three weekly flights between Istanbul and Melbourne via Singapore using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The airline’s Airbus A350-900, which is configured with 32 Business Class and 297 Economy Class seats, will provide 987 weekly seats in each direction on the Istanbul-Singapore-Melbourne route. The new Istanbul-Kuala Lumpur-Sydney service will offer 1,306 seats per week in each direction.
To coincide with this expansion, Turkish Airlines has also launched a loyalty campaign, offering instant status matches to Qantas Platinum and Platinum One members. Successful applicants will receive four months of Elite tier membership in Turkish Airlines’ Miles&Smiles program.
