FlixTrain Expands Regional Network in Germany

FlixTrain, the German railway company and sibling to FlixBus, which stands as one of the few competitors to the country’s largest railway operator, Deutsche Bahn, has announced plans to significantly expand its regional route network.

Currently, FlixTrain routes cover long-distance connections between major hubs such as Hamburg, Cologne, Berlin, Frankfurt, and Stuttgart. However, the company will soon offer its customers easier access to smaller cities, including Cologne, Lübeck, and Kaiserslautern.

FlixTrain has promised that passengers will be able to use a single ticket for both long-distance journeys on FlixTrain and connections to regional destinations via partner trains, allowing them to reach their final stop more conveniently.

To achieve this, FlixTrain will collaborate with regional train operators, including Deutsche Bahn, to “connect its routes with a wide range of regional destinations, opening up hundreds of new routes across Germany.” This partnership aims to enhance accessibility to smaller towns and cities, making train travel more flexible for passengers throughout the country.
