Thousands of flights across the United States have been canceled or delayed as Hurricane Milton passed over the peninsula. 1,916 flights within, to, or from the U.S. have been canceled, while 1,282 flights have been delayed. Orlando International Airport in Florida is the hardest-hit airport, with 800 flight cancellations. Tampa International and Miami International airports are the second and third most affected, with 387 and 191 cancellations, respectively.
Authorities in Florida have advised over 5.5 million residents to evacuate their homes, making the evacuation efforts some of the largest in the state’s history. Even some Florida residents who typically stay put during hurricanes have decided to follow the recommendation and leave this time.
