Passengers on a new Russian Railways (RZD) tourist train will soon be able to enjoy stunning panoramic views thanks to a car with transparent walls planned for launch in 2025.
The idea for the see-through carriage emerged from the desire to showcase the beauty of Russia’s landscapes to train travelers. RZD head Oleg Belozerov announced the plan in an interview with Rossiya-24 television channel.
Belozerov pointed out that RZD already utilizes specialized carriages in some themed train journeys. These include:
- Observation cars:Â Featuring large windows for maximizing sightlines.
- Event cars: Offering spacious cabins for hosting presentations, entertainment programs, and other gatherings.
- Lecture cars:Â Equipped for holding lectures and workshops.
- Relaxation cars:Â Providing comfortable seating for passengers to unwind and relish the train ride.
The National Center for Industrial Design “2050.LAB” previously unveiled the AirSCP concept, a double-decker electric train with panoramic windows. The design incorporates technologies to enhance visibility for both passengers and the train operator without compromising structural integrity. The AirSCP project garnered the prestigious Red Dot Award in the Design Concept category.
The transparent RZD car is anticipated to become a major tourist attraction, offering passengers a unique way to experience the captivating beauty of Russia.
