Unstable Exchange Rates Cause Sales Slowdown in Russian Tour Operators

travel

The currency exchange rate has surpassed a psychological threshold: the euro has risen to 91 rubles, and the dollar to 84 rubles. Russian tour operators have already noticed a slowdown in sales. The unstable exchange rate has already had a negative impact on TEZ Tour: the company’s sales have declined by 35% compared to the same period in previous weeks. In addition to the immediate changes, the exchange rate volatility will have longer-term consequences for the market.

In the medium-term perspective, TEZ Tour warns of the increasing cost of tours to Turkey. Compared to the same period last year, the euro has increased by almost 1.5 times, or 46-47%, when comparing practically day by day. If the currency exchange rates continue to rise for 2-3 weeks, it will have a negative impact on the depth of sales, particularly in August. Furthermore, exchange rate fluctuations can also affect the formation of winter tour packages.
