The first direct flight between Russia and Myanmar will be launched in July of this year, announced Kan Zaw, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Economic Relations of Myanmar, during the SPIEF-2023.
“The first direct flight between Russia and Myanmar will be launched next month, operated by Myanmar Airways International. The flight will operate once a week from Yangon and Mandalay to Moscow and Novosibirsk,” stated Kan Zaw at the forum in St. Petersburg.
The Deputy Prime Minister added that “Russians are eagerly awaited in Myanmar.”
“We will soon present the ‘Russia Friendship Program,’ organized by our Ministry of Tourism. This program will include organizing tourism from Russia to Myanmar,” added the official.
According to him, Myanmar also hopes for the Russian authorities to reciprocate by waiving visas for Myanmar citizens. Since 2022, visas to Myanmar have been abolished for Russians.
